In either mode you are playing, to win you do the same thing, which is playing your notes according to the charts until you reach the song's end.
This means that when the arrow symbols match above BF's head, you need to press the identical arrow keys. Miss doing it one too many times and you lose the whole game, having to start again from scratch. Good luck, enjoy!
